A Recipe for a Folding Knife
Success begins with a hard-use rated lock. Next, incorporate a blade crafted from exotic high-carbon steel. Manufacture it in Golden, Colorado, ensuring precise tolerances, and then infuse a generous dose of American innovation. These elements come together to create the Manix 2, a unique blend of features that, when combined, result in one of the strongest knives produced by Spyderco to date.
Patented by Spyderco, the Manix 2 features a Ball Bearing Lock, which consists of a hardened free-floating ball bearing housed in a custom high-tech polymer cage. This round ball bearing allows the lock to self-adjust across a large surface, ensuring a smooth and consistent locking mechanism that instills solid confidence. Over time, the strength of the Ball Bearing Lock has evolved, providing a secure, versatile, and comfortable grip that withstands rigorous use. The ergonomics of this design are unparalleled.
The blade is made from S30V stainless steel and features a flat grind with aggressive thumb serrations (jimping) positioned above a generously sized 14mm Spyderco Round Hole. The jimping extends beyond the G-10 handle scales, providing additional grip along the handle's perimeter, ensuring that this knife won’t slip from your hand—even when wearing gloves! The full steel liners serve a dual purpose, adding rigidity and lightweight strength to the handle.
The knife is equipped with a three-screw clip that allows for left or right-hand carry, positioned for comfort and deep pocket carry. Additionally, it features a large lanyard pipe, accommodating various types of cords or thongs.
