The Amalgam was meticulously crafted from the ground up as a practical and versatile working knife, seamlessly integrating the benefits of Spyderco’s patented Compression Lock, a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole, and a flipper opener into one cohesive design. Conceived by college student Brian Lai, the Amalgam features a broad drop point blade, expertly ground from CPM-S30V stainless steel. The plain edge blade operates on specialized low-friction ball-bearing washers, housed within an ergonomic handle constructed with nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners and textured carbon fiber/G10 laminate scales. A four-position clip and a lined lanyard hole ensure convenient carry options, allowing the Amalgam to be deployed swiftly with either hand.
