The first variant in the Benchmade Freek
family brings together two incredibly durable materials, a G10 handle and CPM-M4
steel with a black Cerakote finish.
The high-strength premium CPM-M4 blade is designed for hard use, pushing the limits of what the already tough Freek was meant to do.
At the cost of some corrosion resistance you get amazing edge holding, toughness, and decent enough sharpenability. Based on experience and testing, M4 steel may outperform blade steels such as M390 and S90V in terms of edge retention and M4 is in a completely different league in terms of toughness, keep your blade oiled and there won't be any problems.
The gray and black layered G10 is milled to provide excellent
grip and style, while the red G10 base layer and anodized aluminum
barrel spacers bring an additional pop of color to the handles.
G-10 approaches absolute perfection in use for knife handle scales. A premium laminate of fiberglass and resin, G-10 can sustain a ridiculous amount of abuse from strikes and blows to torsion, chemical abuse, and high-moisture environments. In hand, G-10 is incredibly grippy even when wet or greasy.
Featuring an AXIS lock mechanism; The AXIS lock is totally ambidextrous and allows for easy one-handed opening and closing of the blade without your fingers ever being in the path of the blade with a overall weight of 4.30oz [121.90g]
The design is very intuitive to operate with little or no instruction needed on how the lock functions.
